What to bring to an in-person VE session
Required items
Identification
Bring a legal photo ID. If you do not have one, review the ARRL ID alternatives and contact Bill before your session.
FCC FRN (all candidates)
Every candidate, including those upgrading, needs their 10-digit FCC Registration Number. Get an FRN before exam day if you do not already have one.
Exam fee (cash)
$15 for adults; $5 for candidates under 18. Please bring exact change if possible, with no bills larger than $20.
A pen
Bring a pen for any paperwork at the session.
If you are upgrading to General or Extra
Bring a copy of your current amateur radio license and any relevant CSCEs.
Optional items
- A calculator (not one on a phone or tablet).
- A pencil.
