FRN basics

  • Use your legal name and current mailing address.
  • Write down your FRN and keep it handy.
  • Do this before you pay the exam fee.
  • Spelling of name, including initials and name suffix, must exactly match your photo ID.

If you already have an FRN, make sure you can log in to the FCC CORES system.

Step by step

FRN registration steps

  1. Go to FCC CORES and create an FCC Username (account), then verify your email.
  2. Log in to CORES with that FCC Username.
  3. Choose “Register New FRN” and select Individual (not business).
  4. Enter your legal name, mailing address, and contact info, submit, and save your FRN.
  5. Spelling of name, including initials and name suffix, must exactly match your photo ID.
Tip: Use the same name and address on your exam registration so your license application matches FCC records.
